What is the Dropbox API?
The Dropbox Business API is an extension of the Dropbox Platform to help you meet your team where they’re working.
The Dropbox API allows developers to build Dropbox functionality directly into their apps and develop extensions to enable you to do more with Dropbox.
The Dropbox Business API enables a whole suite of security, compliance, and administration solutions—including eDiscovery, data loss prevention (DLP), and security information and event management (SIEM)—or the development of great new apps, as well as enabling your team to do more with Dropbox.
API configuration for team member file access
To create an app that uses the Dropbox API, first log in to the Dropbox Platform with your admin credentials, select Create App, and follow the prompts.
You’ll want to create a unique name for the app, which is owned by whichever user is logged in at the point of app creation.
How can I manage my existing team apps?
You can manage apps from the authentication page in the admin console.
To manage existing connected apps:
Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
Click Admin console.
Click Settings.
Click App permissions.
You'll then see the status of all your team apps, and either add ones you need or delete ones you aren’t using.
You can also block any app from your team by selecting it and clicking Block.
Note: Keep in mind that members of your team may have linked individual apps to their accounts, in addition to any team apps. Individually connected apps can't be managed from the Authentication page.
However, you can manage these apps via your team's activity log. Individually linked apps will appear in the account activity feed of your team members. Apps are also found and managed on the individual member pages in the admin console.
