Connect and manage apps as an admin
2 minute read
Apps in Dropbox Dash provide seamless access to your organization’s essential tools and content. By connecting Dropbox and other apps like Microsoft 365, Google Drive, or Atlassian Confluence, your team can search across them all with ease.
By connecting apps to Dropbox Dash, you can unlock powerful features that help your team work smarter and stay organized:
Data synchronization: Data automatically syncs between Dash and connected apps so information is always up to date.
Universal search: Team members can search across all connected apps from one place and get instant results.
Better AI-powered answers: When team members ask questions, Dash searches content across all connected apps. Adding more apps improves search results and answers to follow-up questions.
Organized content with Stacks: Team members group related content into Stacks, then share it. Stacks are perfect for new hire resources, project documents, or training materials.
How apps work in Dash
Apps connected by admins: Admins can connect apps for everyone to search across, making them accessible to all Dash users across the organization. Team members will still have access to the same content they do now, and their permissions will not change. These apps are centrally managed, ensuring consistent access and control.
Apps connected by members: Members can connect apps to search and access their own content.
What to expect after connecting apps
After apps are connected, syncing them may take 1–2 days, depending on data size and the number of connected apps. To ensure your team has full access, wait for the sync to complete before assigning licenses.
To check the status of an app:
Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
Click Admin Console in the left sidebar.
Click the arrow to expand the Dash menu options.
Click Apps.
You’ll see the app status listed in the Status column, to the right of the app name. You can also view the status by clicking (settings) to the right of each app.
How privacy and security are managed
Protecting your data is a top priority. Here’s how we ensure that your personal information remains secure and confidential:
Data encryption: All data transferred between Dash and connected apps is encrypted to protect sensitive information.
Access controls: No matter what plan your team is on, you can control which apps your team has access to.
If you're an admin on a Dash for Business account, you can also set permissions and access levels for different users across all connected apps, making it easier to manage and ensure that only those with the right permissions can access specific data.”
